Rachel May

My life began in a hippy commune behind Holloway Prison in North London. I am the eldest of four and was considered ‘the difficult one’, ‘the dreamer’ and my reports from school said that I ‘could do better!’

I struggled though school with a feeling that I didn’t fit in.  Dyslexia didn’t help and by the time I was 17, the school had given up on me and I was placed as an assistant teacher in the Junior school.   I really just wanted to be out of the system and to be free….

I thought that by getting married young and starting a family, that I would be happy, I would be the master of my life, but after a while I felt trapped again and had to fly. Since the decision to leave my marriage in 2010, I have been on a quest to get to know myself better, and to find a balance in my life that I have been craving. I had spent 20 years studying Advaita Vedanta philosophy, but I felt fed from the neck up; disconnected from my body, to my sexuality, to the earth. The next ten years I took on various trainings, Adult education, Birth and End of Life Doula, Outdoor Leadership with WildWise, Dance Movement Psychotherapy, Soulcraft with Bill Plotkin and Geneen Marie Hougan, Sexuality Work, Goddess Work, Energy Healing, Mindfulness Coaching, Integrative Somatic Parts Work, Women in Power and finally Shadow Work.

I worked as a birth educator and doula supporting couples with the transition of pregnancy and birth for ten years, a profession which set me up well for the work I do now.

In the last couple of years I have met my shadows, and given time and space to my own healing. I feel more balanced and in touch with my physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual bodies.

A therapist during my divorce once told me that humans are like multifaceted diamonds. We can get to know ALL our parts. Even the parts that are ‘unacceptable’ ‘disliked’ or ‘hidden’. And once we know all the parts we can choose what we show to the different people in our life. We may choose to show some different facets to our parents than we do to our lover, or children or our friends.

My work now is to support people to discover their connection to themselves. To realise what is holding you back in life. To begin to unravel the patterns that have been created in your life. To find your version of FREEDOM. To FULLY LIVE.

The threads I use to create this offering are many, but the process that Shadow Work provides has the ability to create an environment for a deep dive, exploration and transmute/integrate. It is truly transformational.

I have three amazing daughters and live between Oxford, Wales and Greece. I run the Oxford Storytelling Festival where people can explore and create the NEW stories for our times, and find new meaning for their lives. I host sexuality events where people can let go of shame around their bodies and their desires and connect to their true pleasure, and I host Shadow Work events and coach people using mindfulness and shadow work to support them to find out what is getting in the way of them connecting to their full authentic self. I fell like I am now on my unique path.

Join me on a retreat or contact me for a chat where we can talk about a retreat, a 1:1 session or tailor-make your unique weekend away in the UK or Greece.
